Most people who have been in Alicante province for a while have probably heard of Altea Hills, or looked up the mountainside if you drive to Altea, Benidorm or Calpe. In Altea Hills, exclusive residences, apartments and luxury villas are located on the hillside with an enormous view of the Mediterranean and the cities below.
Altea Hills is located against the mountain Sierra de Bernia. There are several fantastic viewpoints on the way up to the top. At the very top, you can also see to the other side, to towns such as Calpe and the mountain town of Callosa de ´En Sarriá, where you will find the Fonts de L'Algar. Altea Hills is perhaps the most prestigious urbanization in the entire Alicante province. Altea Hills is on the other side of AP7 for Altea city. Here you get a view of the Mediterranean Sea, Altea, Albir, Benidorm and other cities which is absolutely fantastic. There are many who want to pay extra for this view, and to be part of this exclusive urbanization. Nor is it just the view and belonging to an exclusive area that attracts. Many appreciate the extra security and the private life you have here. The entrance to all residential areas is closed with permanent security guards and camera surveillance. For some of the houses, the word exclusive is not comprehensive enough, luxury is probably more correct. Almost all homes or apartments have a private pool or a communal communal pool. What is almost standard on all the apartments are large terraces where you have a fantastic view of the Mediterranean. Even if you don't intend to spend that much money on housing, Altea is definitely worth a visit anyway. Although the road up to Altea Hills has some safety stops, you can usually just say that you just want to look in case the area might be something for you to buy in. You get a couple of simple questions about where you come from, etc .before they let you past.
The urbanization is completely private, and the maintenance of streets and street lights is handled by the urbanization itself and not by the municipality of Altea. In this attractive residential area, there are neat communal gardens, nice roads, and in almost all areas a fantastic view over the bay of Altea and/or the Mediterranean. All home owners pay their share in proportion to the size of the property/housing. This also covers the municipal costs. Since there are many homeowners in this large community, the cost per homeowners actually quite low, especially if you take into account all the facilities and installations.
