Costa Blanca South
The southern Costa Blanca stretches from Alicante city down to Pilar de la Horadada, which borders the Murcia province. The climate and the number of sunny days are probably what attract most property buyers to this area. There is no place in Europe that has more sunny days than the south of the Alicante province. The price level of properties is also a good reason to prefer the southern Costa Blanca as a residential area.
The area is generally more affordable than the northern Costa Blanca. However, there are also differences along the southern Costa Blanca coastline. Pilar de la Horadada is generally considered the most affordable, while Alicante city and perhaps Cabo Roig and Punta Prima have a higher price level than the lowest in the area. I
n areas just south of Alicante city, there is also a very short distance to the airport in Elche for some cities and towns, which is obviously a positive aspect. Several areas also have a very international residential environment. There are several cities and areas with beautiful beaches, and the best ones might be closest to Alicante city.
Alicante city
Buying an apartment or house in Alicante city, the capital of the Alicante province. When deciding to buy an apartment or house in the Alicante province, the first thing you do is decide whether you want to live centrally or more on the outskirts. As always, the closer you want to live to the center and the closer to the sea you want to buy a property, the more expensive it will be.
Alicante city is not only the largest city in the province with around 340,000 permanent residents, but it is also a port city with beautiful beaches located right in the city center, and in addition, the city has "its own seaside town" - San Juan, just north of the Alicante center. This makes the price level higher than most other places in the Alicante province.
Alicante is currently the 11th largest city in Spain, but one of the fastest-growing cities. The city has an incredible number of good restaurants and bars. And if you can’t find anything you like here, you’re very picky.
Urbanova
The town of Urbanova, a suburb of Alicante, has the best sandy beach in the province. Urbanova is actually a small "hidden" coastal gem of a town, almost exclusively reserved for Spaniards. With such a long, wide, and fine-grained sandy beach with plenty of space between people, it is difficult to find other places like it. The only connection most people have with Urbanova is flying over the residential area when landing or taking off from the Elche/Alicante airport.
This town is actually very Spanish, with many holiday apartments from Spaniards from inland. The restaurant Moments, located right on the beach promenade, is one of our favorite restaurants. The residential area mainly consists of apartments in these apartment blocks, but there are also some townhouses and houses in the area.
Los Arenales
Los Arenales is a charming little coastal town with a fantastic fine-grained sandy beach. Los Arenales is not only the charming little coastal town with a fantastic large, fine-grained sandy beach. The town is very close to both the airport and Alicante city. Great and fine restaurants are lined up in the town, along the beach and the promenade. Los Arenales is, in the south, the closest beach town to Alicante city (Urbanova is probably not even considered a town).
It only takes 5 minutes to the airport and less than 10 minutes to Alicante city. The long beach stretches almost all the way to Alicante city and to Santa Pola past Gran Alacant. Here, the apartments are located both close to the beach and a little further up in the town. The newer, modern part of Los Arenales has a very international environment, with some luxurious properties near Carabassi Beach with good views and sun exposure.
You can see one of the apartment blocks from a long distance because it is shaped like a large modern cruise ship. But no matter where you have an apartment or property in Los Arenales, it is within walking distance to the beach, restaurants, and bars.
Elche
“The Palm City” Elche/Elx is not only the second-largest city in Alicante province with nearly 250,000 people. It is an area in Alicante province that includes both a large city center, an enormous land area between the city and the Mediterranean Sea, as well as the fantastic beach area around Los Arenales del Sol.
Even though the airport in the province is actually located in Elche, many tourists simply drive further south to Torrevieja and the surrounding towns, or north toward Alicante. Elche is probably the place in the province with the greatest variety of different residential areas. The city center consists of apartments, townhouses, and apartment blocks, while the "countryside" consists of fincas, villas, and houses, many of which have large gardens or land areas. Here, you'll also find large plots of land where nothing has been built, and a wide variety of different types of palm groves.
Los Arenales, with Carabassi Beach and Arenales Beach, which are among the best on the entire Costa Blanca coast, is actually also part of Elche.
Gran Alacant
Buying property in Gran Alacant is a good investment. In recent years, the area has grown significantly. Many people appreciate the short distance to the airport. A lot of beautiful and practical houses/villas, bungalows, and luxury apartments have been built and are still being built, all with easy access to the lovely beach. Those who have discovered this area and rented here in the past often come back when they are ready to buy their own property.
The beach in Gran Alacant is called Carabassi Beach, and just below Arenales, it is called Arenales del Sol. But you can't tell where one beach ends and the other begins. It is a long, continuous stretch of sand. Carabassi Beach and Arenales Beach are some of the main reasons why the Gran Alacant area has become a popular place to buy houses and apartments/bungalows.
The beaches stretch all the way to the city of Alicante in the north and further towards Santa Pola in the south. There are several nice access points to the beach along the promenade, including ones that are accessible for people with disabilities. The access points are adapted for wheelchairs. There are several beach bars and restaurants.
Santa Pola
Santa Pola has apartments, houses, villas, and bungalows in perfect harmony. Santa Pola is probably one of the coastal towns in the Alicante province with the greatest variety of properties. From small affordable apartments, luxury apartments, bungalows, to small and large houses and villas. Santa Pola is a fantastic place to find your next property in Alicante.

La Marina
La Marina is a coastal gem for homebuyers in the south of the Alicante province. Here, many of the houses/villas, bungalows, and apartments are located near the beautiful beaches. The town or village even has its own large water park and resort, with many activities for both children and adults. The small town or village of La Marina is located between Santa Pola and Guardamar del Segura.
This is a small coastal town that is somewhat hidden for many. La Marina has several beautiful beaches with golden sand and crystal-clear water. The nearby Playa La Marina is a popular beach that attracts both locals and tourists. Other nearby beaches are Playa de El Pinet and Playa del Rebollo. Like many other coastal towns in the region, La Marina has an attractive real estate market for international buyers seeking a vacation home or permanent residence.
Guardamar del Segura
The beach town of Guardamar del Segura has a fantastic location. The sandy beaches of Guardamar del Segura are the favorite beaches for many homeowners in this area of the southern Costa Blanca. There are several projects with new modern apartments, and the town also has several luxurious houses right by the beach. Since the beaches are such an important part of Guardamar del Segura, people come from other places to enjoy these amazing beaches.
There are actually over 6 kilometers of long sandy beach. The sea and water are central to Guardamar del Segura, which is why many people want to buy apartments and houses close to this town. But the town also boasts its own man-made forest with several different types of trees. The forest was planted at the end of the 19th century on sand dunes to protect the town from erosion.
Today, the park is called La Pinada of Guardamar, and it is used by many for walks, exercise, play, and museums. New housing projects are constantly being developed. However, it should be noted that this area is one of the most difficult areas to obtain a tourist rental license for.
Rojales with Ciudad de Quesada
Rojales with Ciudad Quesada is the most popular area in Spain for international residents. This is likely due to the infrastructure that includes international doctors, dentists, schools, restaurants/bars, and other service facilities designed for an international community. Rojales and Ciudad Quesada are not located right by the sea, but they are not far from larger coastal towns and beaches such as La Marina, Guardamar del Segura, and Torrevieja.
Here, you will find a variety of homes, from exclusive houses in a higher price range to more affordable apartments. Ciudad Quesada is an exciting place for homeowners. The city combines a relaxed yet lively lifestyle with a wide range of activities and amenities. From La Marquesa Golf and the AquaPark Quesada water park to a thriving restaurant scene and proximity to the beaches. In Rojales and Ciudad Quesada, we find the La Marquesa Golf course. La Marquesa Golf is an 18-hole course that offers challenges for players at all levels.
Torrevieja
Torrevieja has a very large international market. There is always a very large selection of apartments, villas, houses, townhouses, and bungalows, both new and used. Torrevieja is perhaps the most popular city in the Alicante province for international buyers.
Torrevieja is located by the coast with several fantastic beaches. The city and area have a very good infrastructure. In addition to the climate and beaches, Torrevieja also has a highly developed food culture with restaurants for all tastes. There is almost an unlimited number of restaurants, bars, and pubs. One must also not forget the many golf courses located near the city. The promenade in Torrevieja is perfect for lovely walks.
And when mentioning perfect areas for walks and exercise, one cannot forget the amazing La Mata beach, which is just a little north of the town center. This fantastic beach is one of the most popular on the entire Costa Blanca.
Punta Prima
Punta Prima, with its beautiful new apartment complexes close to the sea, is striking. Punta Prima is geographically well-located, right between Torrevieja and La Zenia. When driving down to the sea in Punta Prima, you will be impressed by the large, beautiful apartment complexes right by the sea. The location of Punta Prima is perfect for those who want to live in a peaceful, family-friendly environment, but still have easy access to the more hectic atmosphere of Torrevieja.
The road is short to Alicante province's largest shopping mall, Zenia Boulevard. Punta Prima offers a combination of luxurious houses and villas, as well as apartment complexes, but also more affordable townhouses. Many of the apartment blocks are older, but the new apartments that have been built or are being built near the beach are of a more luxurious standard. Many of them have fantastic views of the Mediterranean Sea and terraces with excellent sun exposure.
The area is very popular among homebuyers, which is why many new homes are being built around the Punta Prima area. The price level varies, but is generally a bit higher than, for example, in Torrevieja, due to the location and quality.
La Zenia
The area of La Zenia contains the large shopping center Zenia Boulevard, the largest shopping mall in Alicante province. There are many apartments and other types of properties near this fantastic outdoor shopping center. Something many people look for when buying an apartment or other types of property in Spain is proximity to infrastructure such as shopping, restaurants, bars, pharmacies, doctors/dentists, in addition to the beach and other activities like water parks and more. All of this can be found in or near La Zenia. The Zenia Boulevard shopping center is in a class of its own in Alicante province.
And there are not many such shopping centers in all of Europe. In the shopping center, you will find all the major brand stores. La Zenia is located just south of Torrevieja. Property prices in Orihuela Costa, such as La Zenia, are somewhat lower than other places along the Alicante coast. And there is usually a very large selection of options. It is also just a few minutes to the beautiful Playa La Zenia or Playa Flamenca beach from most places in La Zenia. In addition, it is not far to the beaches of Cabo Roig and Dehesa de Campoamor either.
Cabo Roig
Cabo Roig is a somewhat exclusive residential area for villas/houses and bungalows/townhouses located in the south of Costa Blanca. Cabo Roig is known for its attractive property market, especially among international buyers looking for a holiday home or a place to live permanently. One could say that the area belongs to the better and finer residential areas in the south of Costa Blanca. Many properties have fantastic sea views and are close to the beaches. Cabo Roig has several beautiful beaches with golden sand and crystal-clear waters. The most popular beach is Cabo Roig Beach, which is known for its calm waters and family-friendly atmosphere.
Of course, there are several good and fine restaurants in connection with the beaches. Many of the restaurants specialize in fresh seafood and paella, as well as tapas and grilled dishes. There is a wide variety of different restaurants in Cabo Roig and the beautiful seafront promenade.
Dehesa de Compoamor
Campoamor is centrally located on Orihuela Costa, with easy access to the beach, golf, shopping, and restaurants. There are few places in the Alicante province that offer such close proximity to all key activities as Dehesa Campoamor, the area around the beaches. Some properties are located almost on the beach. It is only about 8 minutes to Zenia Boulevard and approximately 14 minutes from the beach to Campoamor Golf Course. Restaurants can be found everywhere. There are beaches in all directions, but Playa La Glea is the largest beach on Orihuela Costa.
The marina is a popular spot due to its many facilities. Because of the shape of the sandy beach, you can try water sports and diving activities. In addition to the Campoamor Golf Course, there are also two other 18-hole golf courses, Las Colinas Golf and Las Ramblas Golf, within a 15-minute drive from the beach.
Pilar de la Horadada and Torre de la Horadada
Buying houses/villas and townhouses in Pilar de la Horadada and Torre de la Horadada is a smart financial decision. Pilar de la Horadada and Torre de la Horadada are closely related places. Pilar de la Horadada is an inland town in the south of Alicante province, near Murcia. This is a more tourist-oriented part of the area, known for its beautiful beaches, seaside promenade, and marina. There are stunning villas/houses and townhouses lined up near the beaches. Both in Pilar de la Horadada and Torre de la Horadada, property prices for villas/houses and townhouses are more affordable than in the city of Alicante, meaning you get more for your money in this area.
