Playa de Grandadella is perhaps the best beach on the Costa Blanca and the Alicante province.

I have heard for years that the best beach on the Costa Blanca in the province of Alicante is Playa de Granadella, located in the municipality of Jávea (Xàbia). On one of my research trips, I decided to take advantage of the opportunity to stay in a fantastic villa in Jávea, with a huge view of the Mediterranean above Playa de Granadella. I had heard from locals that it would be smart to be at the beach early, as there could be some challenges with parking. The combination of spending a Friday in a large luxury villa with a fantastic view, and a nice evening at a good restaurant on the promenade in Jávea with an early Saturday swim in the best beach in the province of Alicante, had been on my wish list for a while.

We were at the beach as early as 7:30 on Saturday morning. There were no problems with parking, as we were among the first to the beach. But I can understand that it might be a parking challenge for those who arrive later in the day. There was a fairly steep descent to Playa de Granadella, and for those who arrive later in the day, parking will probably have to be done on the slopes around the mountainside.

Playa de Granadella is located in a small bay surrounded by cliffs and lush vegetation. The beach is small, only about 200 meters long, and consists of pebbles and gravel. The area is part of a protected nature reserve, which helps to preserve its pristine beauty. I myself am not a big fan of pebble beaches, so it was good to bring swimming shoes. I was aware of this in advance. The beach is known for its crystal clear turquoise water, picturesque surroundings and calm atmosphere, which makes it a favorite among both locals and tourists. It is actually a bit difficult to explain the feeling of diving into this wonderfully clear water. But there was a feeling of incredible calm in the still clear water. You might think that the water was a bit cold when you were there so early. But the temperature was absolutely perfect. The feeling was a bit like a cleansing process and a form of happiness. As I said, I don't really know how to explain it. But I have been to many beaches in the Alicante province, and I have never had this feeling before. Maybe it helped that I was out early too. But swimming out to the nearby caves was a really good experience.

The beach is popular with snorkelers and divers due to its clear waters and rich marine life. Kayaking is also a popular activity, and it is possible to explore the nearby cliffs and caves. Playa de Granadella has basic facilities such as parking, toilets and sunbed and parasol rental. There are a few restaurants and cafes nearby serving local specialities, including fresh seafood. But remember, this is not a large beach. However, Playa de Granadella has been voted one of Spain's best beaches several times, and not just for the Costa Blanca. If you want to make the most of your experience, get there early and bring your swimming shoes. As you can see, I can definitely recommend a trip to Playa de Granadella. But make a trip of it by discovering the whole of Jávea as well. Jávea is a very good residential area in many ways.
