Alcoy - if you want housing inland and between the mountains.

Housing in the Alicante hinterland is significantly less expensive than along the coast. There is of course a very good reason to buy in inland towns like Alcoy. Another reason is to get away from the main tourist spots. There are many people who seek out a more Spanish lifestyle instead of an international residential area.

Alicante is not just a coastal province. There are also cities and places well inland. Alcoy or Alcoi is the 6th largest city in Alicante province with over 60,000 inhabitants, approx. an hour from the coast. If you drive the A7 from Alicante to Valencia between the Costa Blanca mountains, you will pass this old town. Alcoy is an industrial and student town, and here tourism is much less than along the Costa Blanca coast.

Not everyone wants to live along the coast, and perhaps would rather be away from the big tourist spots in the Alicante province. There are more people who prefer the inland and the mountains. It's also not that far to various beaches along the entire Alicante coast whenever you want. There are major main roads to both Alicante and Benidorm. If you don't buy too far from the city of Alcoy, it's a short distance to all the service facilities you need. And very often the price level for this is also lower than at the coast. Since Alcoy is located between the big cities of Valencia and Alicante, it doesn't take long to take a city trip either. Alcoy is certainly a place to consider if you want more out of your housing budget.
